The University of Salento is a public entity that aims to develop basic and applied research in both science and the humanities. The research activity is managed by the departments, the consortia and the districts that the University is member of.
In particular, the Department of Innovation Engineering (DIE) develops innovative technologies in many fields such as the Information and Communication Technologies.
The DIE boasts several partnerships with local authorities and the Italian SMEs, aimed at meeting their needs of innovation, technology transfer and services in various application sectors.
The DIE consists of various laboratories like the CORE Lab that is also specialized in ICT for smart transportation.
Under the FRESH WAYS project the researchers from the CORE Lab are in charge of developing three modules of the FRESH WAYS platform that allow to 1) compare the available transport solutions in terms of Cost, Time and Carbon Footprint; 2) estimate the air shipping cost of the products; 3) and trace them.
